An eventful March at the Centre for Culture’s Cinema. Catch up with Oscar-nominated films, cult classics and moving documentaries.
March Movies at the Centre
“Past Lives”, debut feature by director Celine Song, returns by popular demand. It’s a story about love, lost hopes and new opportunities. And that elusive longing for the past that each of us carries within. Another film carrying existential themes is “Sometimes I Think About Dying”. A story about overcoming one’s own limitations, full of subtle humour. The star of the final “Star Wars” trilogy, Daisy Ridley, plays the main part. Also in March, we bring you 4 outstanding documentaries. By far the most shocking of them is the Oscar-nominated film “20 Days in Mariupol”. A war correspondent, risking his
life, records the destruction of a Ukrainian city.

The Discussion Circle “Benshi” brings a series strongly focused on male energy – “In the ring”. Starting the adventure with a bang with a screening of “Raging Bull”. To prepare for the role, De Niro trained with LaMotta for a year, and as a result, the fight scenes went down in cinema history for their extraordinary realism. This is also the case with “The Iron Claw” – a moving biography of the Von Erich family. Behind the scenes of the wrestling shows that America went crazy about in the 1980s, there are brutal training sessions, broken characters and dreams and bruised brotherly relationships.
Days before the Oscar ceremony our audience can catch up with short animated and feature films nominated for the award. For Women’s Day, the latest production by Sofia Coppola. “Priscilla” is a behind-the-scenes look at the life of a young woman living alongside one of the biggest stars of her time, Elvis Presley. A day later we will see “Poor Things” – a breathtaking production starring Emma Stone. The film by the Greek director takes the viewer to an alternative world in which there are no moral or ethical rules.
