Responsive Body | Külli Roosna & Kenneth Flak

Responsive Body (RB) is a workshop programme that outlines strategies and principles for choreographic and technological research, while also offering a method for maintaining overall fitness and fostering continuous artistic development. The aim of RB is to cultivate a flexible, open and creative dialogue between body and mind, enabling both to listen attentively, learn and communicate in changing contexts. Particular emphasis is placed on sustained presence and concentration, sensitivity to sensory stimuli, and the ability to respond immediately and creatively through movement.

Külli Roosna and Kenneth Flak are an Estonian-Norwegian artistic duo working at the intersection of dance and new media. Since 2008, their work has engaged with a broad spectrum of themes—from ecology and mythology to totalitarianism and digital culture. At the core of their creative practice is human experience embedded in interconnected realities. They examine this through attentive exploration of the body’s possibilities and limitations in dance, engaging in a continuous dialogue with technology and contemporary discourses that serve as a natural extension and counterpoint to movement.

The Unconditioned Body (2 two-hour sessions) | Joseph Alter

• Session 1: Exploring “The Unconditioned Body”
Grounding in presence, bringing awareness to movement habits, and establishing internal support that allows the moving body to travel freely.
• Session 2: Moving Toward “The Self-Organizing Body”
Real-time movement responses—in relation to space, momentum, and fellow dancers in the studio.

Every dancer carries a personal history of training: deeply ingrained postural habits, patterns of effort, rhythms, and attentional focus that subliminally shape the way they move.
This workshop invites participants to notice these conditionings and soften their hold. Rather than teaching a codified movement vocabulary, Joe Alter guides dancers through inquiries rooted in principles honed over four decades of practice as a dancer, choreographer, and educator. The work draws upon somatic approaches, including the Alexander Technique and Bartenieff Fundamentals. Throughout the sessions, participants work with gravity, support systems in motion, and momentum.

Joe Alter has been an active dancer, choreographer, and educator in the field of contemporary dance for over 40 years. He holds a Master of Fine Arts from The Ohio State University in Choreography and Dance Technology. As Artistic Director of the Joe Alter Dance Group, his works have been presented at The Kitchen, The Sylvia and Danny Kaye Playhouse, 92nd St. Y, Harkness Center for Dance in New York City, and internationally across Mexico, Germany, Poland, the Czech Republic, Colombia, and Serbia. Professor Joe Alter also created the Polish Project in collaboration with international partners—a regional initiative exploring the creative process with underserved youth throughout Poland. Since 2005, he has served as a Professor of Dance at San Diego State University.

Flow State: Contemporary Floorwork | Błażej Jasiński

An energetic contemporary dance workshop focusing on flow, floorwork, and dynamic movement.
With a foundation built in dance academies, alongside regular practice of capoeira and freerunning, the instructor brings a versatile, highly physical approach to contemporary dance. His movement style combines technical precision with agility, fluidity, strength, and ease, forging a unique way of navigating space.
Particular emphasis will be placed on foundational acrobatics and the flying low technique. Participants will explore falling, rolling, sliding, level changes, and utilizing momentum to transition smoothly and effortlessly between floor and standing work. The objective of the class is to build a deeper understanding of continuous movement (flow) and how one action seamlessly transforms into the next.
Whether you have extensive experience in contemporary dance or simply wish to explore a fresh, highly physical approach to movement—come ready to dance, work, experiment, and flow!

Błażej Jasiński was born in Poland. He took his first steps in movement training through capoeira. In 2004, he graduated from theatre school in Poland and continued his education at the contemporary dance academy in Linz, Austria. He subsequently relocated to Rotterdam, where he began collaborating with André Gingras and specialized in disciplines including freerunning. Concurrently, he established a close collaboration with choreographer Jelena Kostić as a performer, dancer, and creative collaborator across numerous productions. As an educator, he has taught at various Dutch dance and circus academies (Fontys, ArtEZ, and Codarts).

Performing movement | Nik Rajšek

This workshop consists of a physical training exploring bodily freedom and control through movement, breath, rhythm, and repetition. Participants will engage directly with movement material from the production “Kink”, including material that did not make the final stage cut, offering unique insight into the creative process. Through precision, endurance, and resilience, participants will navigate complex rhythms and simultaneous sonic layers, cultivating musicality, physical presence, bodily awareness, and expressive freedom.

Nik Rajšek is a Slovenian dancer and maker based in the Netherlands. He graduated from the Modern Theatre Dance programme at the Amsterdam University of the Arts (AHK) in 2015. He has collaborated with distinguished choreographers, most notably Ann Van den Broek. In his independent practice, he creates solo works investigating personal approaches to performance, movement, and film. In 2025, he joined the Station Noord talent development network in the northern Netherlands and was selected as an Aerowaves Twenty26 artist.

Novland repertoire | Lysanne Van Berlo

In this repertoire workshop, Lysanne van Berlo shares movement material from the production “noVLand”, drawing from her training and professional experience as a dancer with Anton Lachky Company. Participants will explore the choreographic vocabulary, heightened physicality, rhythm, and musicality of the work while learning and developing selected repertoire sequences. The workshop provides an inside look into the creative process behind “noVLand” and Lysanne’s distinctive approach to movement.

Lysanne van Berlo is a Dutch dancer, teacher, and choreographer. She began dancing at age 16, following training in taekwondo since age 13. She studied at the Fontys Academy of the Arts in Tilburg and has collaborated with Dutch dance companies and hip-hop collectives, including BackBone, Theater Rotterdam, and Schweigman&. She is the creator of the Musiquality method, which she teaches internationally. Since 2023, she has collaborated with Anton Lachky Company in Belgium, performing in productions such as “Absurd” and “noVLand”.
